The trip started on Wed. Feb. 3, 2016. Got a late start. It was raining - but not cold enough to freeze. Got myself lost near NYC and wound up taking Rt.80 to Pennsylvania. that was interesting. Drove thru, near or into the Delaware Water Gap. Then wound up driving a gorgeous winding road (rt.611) that followed the Delaware River. The scenery was stunning but the road was sort of treacherous with fog and pounding rain.
So with all that meandering at 40 mph and being lost, we spent the first night somewhere in Maryland.
Back on track, we found our way thru rt.1 and 13 to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. Continued thru the rain, rain more rain to Virginia Beach. There we had rain and lunch. After lunch at the Village Inn, decided to drive west to get a little closer to Patty and Asheville.
Spent the second night in Franklin Va.
Day three: On the road to Asheville. On track, not lost and sunny skies! Beautiful Day! Arrived at Patty's and pulled into the steep driveway at 4pm. Very steep driveway - actually couldn't make it and parked on the street. The road to Asheville is like a 4 lane Super Highway on Mohonk Mt. The Appalachians are a lot more intense than the Catskills.
